Photonics Festival in Taiwan 2007
LED Lighting / OPTO / Solar Taiwan 2007 plus Display Taiwan 2007
Showcasing the Best of Taiwan Photonics Industry
Taipei, Taiwan June 11th, 2007 –Aiming at the hottest issues such as global warming, energy saving and environmental conservation around the globe, the organizer of Photonics Festivals in Taiwan proudly announces the exposition schedule for 2007. Combining expositions such as International Optoelectronics Exposition (Opto Taiwan 2007), LED Lighting Taiwan and Solar Taiwan expositions, Photonics Festivals in Taiwan 2007 will be inaugurated on June 13th 2007 through June 16th 2007 at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. It has become the most important events for Photonics Industry in Taiwan and one of the most significant photonics expositions in the world. Meanwhile, TCA and PIDA will jointly hold the Display Taiwan 2007in WTC Hall 2.
More than 400 exhibitors – manufacturers and distributors, academic and research institutes, and government organizations – will be on hand in over 1,000 booths to update you on the industry's most significant developments. It's an unmatched opportunity to meet face-to-face with the leaders in this fast-growing field. The event also includes a series of Business & Technology conferences and Exhibitors' seminars.
This year's Photonics Festival 2007 features:
OPTO Taiwan 2007
The 16th International Optoelectronics Exposition – one of Asia's biggest – is a prime event for exchanging information, comparing products and services with competitors, and spotting future trends. Exhibits cover laser applications, OE components, solar power, precision instruments and more.
LED Lighting Taiwan 2007
The 3rd edition of LED Lighting focuses on LEDs for every conceivable purpose, including indoor, outdoor, and specialty fixtures; epi wafers, and processing equipment.
Plus, you'll also want to attend Solar Taiwan – the 1st International Solar Exposition -- held in the same venue. Exhibits at this new event showcase photo-voltaic systems, solar products and applications, and PV materials and production equipment.
Keynote: The latest trend and technology breakthrough reveal
In addition to the expositions, seminars will catch the spotlight, too. As the keynote speeches, the organizer invited Dr. Shuji Nakemura, the pioneer of blue-light LEDs, to give a speech on the latest technology breakthrough and application of blue-light LEDs in the International Conference in LED lighting Taiwan 2007 at 09:00 am.-12:00 pm, June 15th, 2007.
Furthermore, Dr. Michael Lebby, the president & CEO of OIDA, USA ,will present OIDA’s Perspective on Global Optoelectrnoic and Market Trends in Global photonics Industry Prospect forum at 10:00 am-11:00 am, June 14th, 2007.
Outstanding Photonics Products Award 2007
The outstanding Photonics Products Award has been held for ten years during the Photonics Festival in Taiwan (PFT). The award-winning photonics products represent the development course of Taiwanese photonics industry. The ceremony will be held at the PFT opening ceremony and the 10 award-winning photonics products for 2007 have been chosen by experts and scholars in the industry.
The total production value of Taiwan photonics industry will exceed NT$1.6 trillion (US$48.5 billion) in 2008
The prosperous development of the photonics industry and market has contributed to the continuous expansion of the exhibition scale. It is expected that the total production value of Taiwan photonics industry will exceed NT$1.6 trillion (US$48.5 billion) in 2008. LED packaging, STN/TFT LCD panels, optical disc/drives, digital cameras, and the emerging OLEDs products all rank top 3 in terms of global production value, setting a milestone for Taiwan photonics industry. The past OPTO Taiwan expositions had recorded the track of the development of these outstanding products. They also demonstrated the trend of the development of the photonics industry and market.
The PIDA-hosted Photonics Festivals in Taiwan has more than 23 years of history. The scale of the exposition grows along with the development of Taiwan photonics industry. It has generated successful expositions such as Opto Taiwan, LED Lighting, and Solar Taiwan, along with the co-organized Display Taiwan event. In addition to various FPD products, the exposition also exhibits photonics components such as LEDs and CMOSs, solar cells, and optical communication components. From now on, PIDA will continue to fulfill its commitments to provide the best service to the industry.
Solar Taiwan is Born
Taipei, Taiwan– A new zone in this year’s PFT is called Solar Taiwan. It is in the TWTC, Hall One with about twenty participating companies occupying eleven booths covering an area of 270 m². The exposition aims to provide a platform for the many already world-famous Taiwanese manufacturers, such as: Motech Industries Inc., E-ton Solar Tech., Green Energy Technology Inc., (GET) and Wafer Works Corporation. Solar Taiwan is born at the right time, and in the right place, in response to Taiwan’s booming PV industry.
Taiwan’s PV Industry
Taiwan started to develop its PV industry since 1999. The production value breaks NT$ 10 billion* in 2000. The number of local PV manufacturers has increased rapidly since 2005 with more than five manufacturers joining the industry every year since then. From January to May this year, the amount of the total investment in the Taiwanese PV industry reached NT$25 billion, which already exceeds the NT$20 billion total investment in 2006.
In 2006, there were 14 solar cell production lines. The total production value of Taiwanese solar cell and module manufacturer totaled NT$170 billion in 2006 occupying 6.4% of the global market share. In 2007, the production volume will grow 2.2 times to 565 MW. The production value will reach NT$60 billion with a 16.2% global market share making Taiwan the fifth largest producer in the world.
The solar cell industry in Taiwan focuses on export markets with more than 95% of total production bound for foreign shores.
Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) began more than twenty years ago to support the research and development of the local PV industry. In January 2006, a spin-off organization was established – the Photovoltaic Technology Center (PVTC). It is committed to promoting photovoltaic technological development and commercial applications. The Taiwanese government offers its support to help the local manufacturers to establish themselves and later enter the world market. |
