We present a method to measure continuous-wave ferromagnetic resonance FMR spectra based on
% \4 T' c" q0 u. l2 p/ m& x' M& dthe core-level absorption of circularly polarized x rays. The technique is demonstrated by using a
$ R9 f/ T: D% I4 Y3 r' m* ~4 wmonochromatic x-ray beam incident on an yttrium–iron–garnet sample excited by a microwave field
6 ]1 Y$ c! E7 j* x& q' k0 Aat 2.47 GHz. FMR spectra are obtained by monitoring the x-ray absorption intensity at the photon
; F9 t8 m" L1 A$ `0 k; }energy corresponding to the maximum of the magnetic circular dichroism effect at the iron L2,3
3 v) X- V; k8 |4 U" ?$ {! oedges as a function of applied magnetic field. The x-ray FMR signal is shown to be energy
- B" K# B# C/ bdependent, which makes the technique element sensitive and opens up new possibilities to perform
