The popularity of the PSoC processor is growing more quickly than ever before.

& Q( c3 g! Z8 s" o; H4 FI would like to give a brief overview of a couple of parts that Cypress has since
+ ]4 i* g5 I8 x. i2 y: |introduced that are sure to be huge successes on future designs. The first part is the

along with the PSoC core. Cypress began earlier by making the enCoRe™ USB
9 ^1 ]6 m5 A& v) i# ^8 Econtroller. They were part of the CY7C637xx series and they gave you RAM and
9 q l& `) [( n& y( `$ Y0 nROM to run the controller and manage some simple I/O. They were selectable from

. n9 D( Q. X2 b# w# EHowever, the PSoC configurable digital and analog blocks weren’t there. There were( H/ A/ d& z3 C2 S% I
only dedicated blocks that could be one thing and one thing only. This allowed you) f) T1 q* l7 |$ }; Q6 P# X I
to have the USB communication along with a PS/2 controller and SPI port. However,8 ]: T+ I* e: W
the ease of use for a USB device was terrific. Cypress even found a way to tune" Q: k! w2 H% E$ }% y+ J6 f! P! R
its clock from the USB and eliminated the need for an external crystal.6 A+ x! q1 V7 l3 n& R: W
The CY8C24273 combines the easy to use USB interface with a normal PSoC core.
% _9 y( R/ D+ ?5 V' h& C6 nThere are four digital blocks and two columns (six blocks) of analog. It has 16K of

0 g1 _+ |' d" z6 F2 XThe PSoC core still runs at 24 MHz. When used in a USB system, the PSoC can

Cypress has made an inexpensive, but powerful radio system that allows you to cut: \1 v X5 k1 U7 R l* O5 f

onto your PSoC system to give you wireless capabilities. However, the CYWUSB69532 t7 L- y' }! {7 i# v
part that is coming will integrate the wireless radio right into the PSoC part. This/ M+ c k. }4 R' I/ A8 F, o
