Three-axis teslameter with integrated Hall probe free from the planar Hall effect
Abstract – The first commercially available teslameter with a
3 V* H) x* {7 Dfully integrated 3-axis Hall probe is described. The Hall probe
- k) T( q4 y; L; U& O2 a2 S  kchip contains horizontal and vertical Hall elements, analogue
; o4 t- D5 P+ \! F; ?- {, R: ^electronics, and a synchronisation circuit. A horizontal Hall
; w' u3 A0 p' J/ U- }6 [& ^element measures the perpendicular component, and two vertical
Hall devices measure the two in-plane components of a magnetic
field. Current spinning in the Hall devices cancels offset, 1/f
noise, and the planar Hall voltage. The analogue electronic
" D$ f5 F2 `+ |0 N# ]& d8 Pmodule of the teslameter cancels the residual offset and
$ w# v( x- t. ]/ o' Fcompensates temperature dependence and non-linearity of the
3 O: E$ b$ U6 P6 ]! z8 BHall voltages. The digital module provides A/D conversion and
communication to a computer.
