Jitter can be defined as the deviations in a clock’s output transition2 A* T" Q6 u8 z& v0 j( |
from their ideal positions. The deviation can either be leading or- m$ m- R0 ]) p5 d, A& u* O
lagging the ideal position. Jitter is usually specified in ± pico seconds.

2 o+ J; |2 P. w: o) O9 Xcycle-to-cycle jitter, period jitter, and long-term jitter. All jitter measurements4 Q) x' D! h1 W- U. W
