Linaro Software and Tools

Linaro實現了成立時的承諾

Linaro六月份在台北國際電腦展 (Computex) 上成立時承諾，該公司將建立一個約有100名專業軟體開發人員的團隊。成立六個月後的11月10日，Linaro已將工程團隊擴大至70多名開發人員，而且每個月還在引進新的人才。這些開放原始碼開發人員已在兩個關鍵領域展開工作：為最新的ARM Cortex-A9和Cortex-A8晶片改進開發工具以及合併Linux核心SoC支援。根據其開放式工程原則，所有工作團隊和平台工程均公開完成，並放在開發人員開放網站上供人檢閱。這些工作成果讓以ARM技術為基礎的最佳Linux程式和為ARMv7A打造的最佳開放原始碼開發工具得以整合，而且所有人均可取得。Linaro將社群資源加入網站，可供希望參與或配合工程、卻未加入Linaro聯盟核心或組織的人士使用：www.linaro.org/community。

Linaro發展動力大為提升

隨著Linaro團隊開放原始碼開發人員數量快速成長，已經可以為第二波工程週期 (11.05) 擴編工作團隊。新增的三個工作團隊將可以更順利地創造出具有先進多媒體、繪圖功能和超長電池壽命的卓越產品。為強化Linaro的管理，德州儀器、ARM與IBM代表所有成員加入了董事會。新的董事會近期選出George Grey擔任執行長，從而為Linaro的管理團隊帶來了新的經驗。Linaro日前也宣佈，該公司將為軟體發行所有權人設立一個新的顧問團，讓他們可以透過這個正式的管道，就自身需求和期望與設定Linaro工程需求的TSC（技術指導委員會）進行討論。

三星、ST-Ericsson和德州儀器於11月10日Techcon一場重要展覽會上，展示了在3款不同Cortex-A9系統單晶片上開發的3款軟體發行，而且均使用了經Linaro開發人員改進的軟體或工具。

Linaro執行長George Grey表示：「展覽會中展示了能執行多種Linux發行的新款ARM系統單晶片，而且這都受益於Linaro協作工程的軟體和工具。我們提供了最佳的開放原始碼工具和軟體，並在最先進的Cortex-A9晶片上實現，從而統一並加速了開放原始碼開發。」

在第二週期，Linaro將透過以下方式建構發展動力：

1. 投資更多與繪圖、多媒體和電源管理相關的開放原始碼專案

2. 擴大支援該軟體並支援先進核心的SoC數量

3. 延聘軟體發行的所有權人來擔任Linaro顧問

4. 宣佈一名新的TSC成員

3 O4 @3 z# H0 f% Q* }/ h$ gLinaro欣然獲悉，開發商將能購買三星電子（Samsung）Exynos 4210晶片組的低成本、高效能Origen開發板，並執行經過Linaro最佳化的免費開放原始碼軟體及相關工具。軟體開發人員現在能以較低成本使用高效能的Exynos行動運算平臺，該平臺採用最新的多核心Cortex-A9中央處理器和多核心Mali400圖形處理器，以及1G高階DDR3記憶體。該開發板將會受到平板電腦、智慧手機以及其他搭載螢幕的上網裝置開發商的青睞，對這些設備來說，是否擁有最先進的效能、絕佳的影像品質以及高畫質顯示能力非常重要。Linaro將在公司網站上提供Android和Ubuntu系統Linaro Evaluation Builds的原始程式碼，供開發人員下載。Linaro Evaluation Build將採用穩定的最新Linux核心及相關工具鏈建構而成，以不到200美元的價格提供最優越的效能。Linaro提供的產品品質評估軟體採用開放原始碼軟體和工具，能幫助縮短產品上市時間，簡化產品開發流程。
