Jitter can be defined as the deviations in a clock’s output transition
& P& w5 U" [- ?. O* c. Wfrom their ideal positions. The deviation can either be leading or
! c. }4 {' j- vlagging the ideal position. Jitter is usually specified in ± pico seconds.
( m& f) U" K7 `Jitter measurements can be classified into three categories:: p# D0 @* [, y$ [3 l( J4 E8 Y8 k
cycle-to-cycle jitter, period jitter, and long-term jitter. All jitter measurements h' P! t$ h H" l0 |: I
are at a specified voltage, usually Vcc/2 or 1.5V.( p& [+ e* x7 P3 W' W/ K
