Basically, your customer will ask you to follow up open source rule, that's GPL version 2 at least or 3.( s8 y) n! J% s) A
As I know, GPL v3 is not finalized and hassle with some open source communities. That's the background of current staus. If any update, please revise my statement.

My real pratice, with tier-one customer, is to open FTP site and prepare Linux BSP including Linux kernel, tool chain, boot loader ... etc. But it deos not incude the applicaiton and Web UI by ODM/OEM vendors.

GPL is really a concept not a law or regulation. It gives you a freedom to use open source code without
6 D" T4 F1 d$ t+ _6 {& L+ Slosing all the hairs. As long as you follow the general guide line, which ( Z# \1 C- M5 j" n" l: F
means respect the Linux community, you should be cool to use someone's work. , r. n0 D; W3 T2 B; A. V& Z

But "copyright law" is a different story,as far as I know, you don't distribute someone's work 7 b5 @- U+ B+ W! Q- ]0 R; s- V& I5 O- ]
without getting a licence agreement. Anyway, I am no expert at linux, it just happen to be something " \# U0 r* x1 L1 v
you want to pay attention when you are running business with it.  n& L7 V, s2 V( I4 i9 k9 N" l
